"Character Inn. Had a very pleasant evening in the Plough at Clanfield. The bar has a great atmosphere with a very homely feel. The food in the dinning room was excellent and well presented as was the drinks. The room we stayed in was very clean and full of character but the plumbing was as might be expected from a building of this age. The only area of concern was that staff were a bit new and a little bit unsure in certain areas, perhaps because it was the beginning of the season. Generally a very good trip in spite of the weather. " -
April 2010 A King. "Luxury country hotel, but down to earth, friendly customer service. A lovely bit of luxury with four poster bed which was really comfortable, a special romantic treat for my partner's birthday. Loved the country feel and history to the hotel, food was just wonderfully presented and tasted divine. Staff very attentive and friendly with relaxed atmosphere which made you feel at ease. Altogether an enjoyable stay, " -

" - P Power March 2010. "Really Fabulous, Bliss! We had such a fab time that we stayed an extra night ! Superb Hotel, very clean with lovely rooms, we stayed in a Four Poster room which was really cosy. The Staff are very laid back but professional, the food was superb and cooked to order, great selection of Wines and drinks. The Hotel is gorgeous, very peaceful but has a style of its own, set in attractive gardens. We felt very welcome and were so relaxed that we were almost horizontal ! Well situated for getting away from it all, but easy for exploring lots of quaint villages. Vibrant Oxford is about 30 mins drive for a great night out or shopping, Loved it, Loved it, Loved it ! " - Nov 2009. Gail. "Fabulous place in the Cotswold.
We found this place through the internet as a very last minute booking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a this peaceful retreat, wish we could have stayed longer. I would recommend both the breakfast and the dinner as they were well presented and cooked to perfection. Will definitely stay there again." -
July 09. Linda B. "Beautiful Hotel. No complaints, not even a minor niggle. The hotel is beautiful, perfectly in keeping with the picturesque setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. I even got the room I asked for when booking. I would like to go back and stay longer. I arrived late and had already had dinner but the smells when I arrived made me wish I had waited and eaten there. Breakfast was relaxed, with a good amount of choice.
Perfect for a romantic getaway!" -
July 09. Amanda G. "An excellent hotel, would recommend it. We stayed in the annex which was built about nine years ago. Good room, big and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and of a good size "Would definitely go back there. The breakfast and the evening meal was excellent. Was made to feel very welcome and they went out of the way to help you. Had a 4 poster bedroom it was comfortable and spacious and had a large bathroom. Excellent value for money and would recommend The Plough to anyone." -

"Quiet country retreat
The setting was idyllic, the room and bathroom large and well appointed. My husband and I enjoyed a local ale and cider in the pub portion which was comfortable and cozy. We wished we had left Oxford earlier and had dinner in the Cotswold Plough restaurant. The breakfast was exceptional with many choices and the Eggs Benedict was excellent. There was an old church and church yard behind the B & B which we explored after arriving that night.

Would recommend staying here, owners are very friendly and want to make you stay enjoyable, the Sunday deal spent £75.00 on food and drink and get your accommadation free is well worth it.

"The Plough has an atmospheric look and it didn't disappoint inside. The four poster room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with a light and airy bathroom, the only downside was there was little space to store clothes and the furniture was mismatched, but this also added to the charm. The food was excellent, with the chief knocking us up a snack when we arrived hungry after our journey and serving time was over. The staff were friendly and helpful, we enjoyed our stay and will be going back.

"My Wife and i stayed there on the 'lazy Sunday' deal which meant that the accommodation was free if you spent £75 between you on food and drinks - easy! We arrived at 1 and sat out on the terrace amongst beautiful scenery to eat our lunch. Excellent food and wine - sat eating lobster and drinking sancerre in the lunchtime sun! I'd paid for an upgrade when i booked from a standard to a 4 poster at an extra cost of £20!
Clanfield itself is very small but ideal for 1 or 2 nights away to sit and relax. Nice walks along the streams and fields, another good pub next door - perfect.
In the evening we then had a tapas type snack in the garden with several drinks throughout the day. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
A lovely breakfast in the morning completed this excellent stay.
We were fairly extravagant and so, with upgraded accommodation, 3 course lunch with very good wine, drinks inc pimms, G&T, Cider and wine all day, evening snack (which was all that was needed after a big lunch) and breakfast cost a total of £150. This could be done cheaper if you were on a tighter budget but seeing as we rarely have a night away without our children we were willing to pay for what we wanted!
This really was a superb deal and we'd definitely be returning.

"I hope you had a good break last week as you certainly deserved it after all your hard work making Gareth and Hannah’s wedding so successful. Many people were very complementary regarding the whole reception with the food being especially praised. Serving a meal for 80+ guests obviously presents challenges but your team certainly “came up trumps? with both the menu and quality of the meal being greatly appreciated.

"Thought we were in Heaven for a few days.
Wow, from the minute we arrived this was idyllic, our greeting was laid back and relaxed, our Four Poster room was stunning, immaculately clean and it felt as though it had personally been prepared just for us. Even the sunshine had been arranged for our stay ! The Proprietor and Staff are very relaxed and made us feel really welcome. We sat enjoying freshly brewed coffee overlooking the garden each morning, watching the Chef cutting fresh herbs to accompany the that day's Menu.
The food is freshly made, to order, the menu has something for every taste, the fresh fish dishes are fab, dining at the Plough is also very popular with locals. Breakfast was second to none, and served with smiles.
To sum up, we had a wonderful time at this beautifully crafted Hotel, the ambience was delightful, relaxing was part of the pleasure, already looking to book our next stay". - Trip advisor. Sep 2009.
"Delightful hotel in wonderful surroundings. We booked a last minute one night stay in the Cotswolds, just needed to get away from London for some peace and relaxation. Journey took 1.5 hours to arrive at the delightful little Cotswold village of Clanfield to find the Plough. A 16th Century manor house now operating as a privately owned Inn and restaurant. What a gem!
We had afternoon tea on our day of arrival, served on the front terrace in the afternoon sun. we had probably the smallest room (8) in the old part of the hotel which I have to say was perfectly acceptable for a one / two night stay. We ate in the restaurant and had a most enjoyable meal finished off with coffee in the bar / lounge and a wee dram! The hotel is a little weary around the edges, but a rolling programme of refurbishment is picking that up, without spoiling the character and ambience of such a delightful old building. I understand the modern addition, which is very much in keeping with the mellow cotswold stone exterior, has larger more modern rooms with all the trappings of four poster beds etc if you prefer. Whatever your choice only the most fastidious of clients could be in any way disappointed. we were not and will most certainly return.
I cannot praise The Plough at Clanfield enough." - May 09. Trip Advisor.
"Perfect Oxfordshire Retreat. We booked at the last minute and were lucky enough to find that they had just had a cancellation. We stayed in a beautiful room at the top of the oldest part of the hotel with a four poster bed and a bath big enough for two.
The location of the hotel is ideal, close enough to Oxford for a day trip but it feels a million miles away from city life. The thames is a few miles away, there are riverside pubs, boats for hire and the thames walk on your doorstep.
The staff at the hotel were lovely, attentive, friendly, but not intrusive in anyway.
We ate at the hotel both evenings, and the food was great. Great produce, concepts, and presentation. Scallops cooked to perfection, great moule and delcious desserts.
If you are lucky enough to have great weather the terrace at the front of the hotel provides a wonderfully romantic setting.
I can't wait to go back and would whole heartedly recommend to anyone looking to get away from it all and totally switch off for a few days." -

"Lovely romantic break.
The Plough at Clanfield was lovely. I arranged dinner and an overnight stay as a surprise for my Husband's birthday. I booked a four poster room which was spacious and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was large and everything was very clean - with the amount of space maybe I would have put a seperate shower in there but the shower over the bath had an oversized head so was very refreshing. Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous. We were the only people there for breakfast so were asked what time we wanted to eat - there was a little too much hollandaise on the eggs benedict for my liking but this was a very minor thing. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. I would definitely stay there again - a great place to get away from everything and relax" - Aug 2009. Alan N.
"Beautiful,
well appointed rooms, great service from friendly and efficient staff and a great kitchen. Book it now!" -

The staff were helpful and the service was excellent. the food was particularly good
we looked at the original bedrooms which are smaller and the bathroom is not too big, so i would recommend the annex." -
